Issoire - Millau

Friday 4th August

Another travelling morning, mainly on the A75, from Issoire to Millau.
This stretch of motorway must be one of the most scenic - lots of ups and downs over and around farmland and wooded hillsides and crossing huge viaducts.
Our motorway coffee stop
St. Flour - we filled with diesel below this town
Our original plan was to stay at a France Passion farm tonight, but the very high temperatures have meant that we need the fan on at night, and that needs electricity which we don't have at a 'Passion'.  So we came off the motorway before the Tarn Bridge and came right down into the valley to a campsite beside the river.  There are several campsites and they are very busy at the moment, but fortunately we found one of the smaller ones - about half the price of the all-singing-all-dancing ones.  No pool either, of course, but it was soooo lovely paddling in the river this afternoon!
View from our pitch

Millau is a much larger town than we'd expected - having only looked down from the viaduct before - so we are quite a long way away from the bridge.  Walking this evening by the river we hoped to be able to see it in the distance, but too many buildings meant that we only got a glimpse.

Tomorrow we hit the Med .....
